What Are You Reading Wednesday: All The Light We Cannot See

This week I’m reading my book club’s selection for October,  All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, which has been getting a lot of attention and praise! Here’s an excerpt from page 34 on my Kindle:

“But he watches his sister’s face, motionless except for her eyelids, and in the kitchen Frau Elena holds her flour-whitened hands in the air and cocks her head, studying Werner, and two older boys rush in and stop, sensing some change in the air, and the little radio with its four terminals and trailing aerial sits motionless on the floor between them all like a miracle.”

The final task for WAYRW is to answer the question: Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not? I think I’m going to have to go with no for this one. As much as Werner and Marie-Laure are pretty incredible people who I’d totally like to be besties with (from what I’ve read so far anyway), the whole WWII thing is not something I would care to witness first hand. I am really enjoying the book so far though so I’m happy to experience their lives from the comfort of my own cushy home. Is happy the right word here?

What are you reading now?
